Back in the Classroom-a reflection and intention

I’ve been back in the classroom 4 times this fall as a substitute teacher and assistant, and it’s been wonderful! I like being in the classroom, working with students–watching them learn, guiding their learning, answering their questions. I feel tired, but not drained, at the end of the day. I am looking forward to subbing some more.

One thing I have learned is that right now I do NOT want my own classroom; I want to work as an assistant or an aide, supporting students in math or reading. Ideally, I want part-time work; mornings would be best. Assisting small groups of students either in the classroom or as a pull out. I value working with students at either end of the academic spectrum.
